The Sockers Youth Foundation, Ltd was founded in 2000 by David Richardson, Nilton “Batata” DaSilva and Mary Magee on the underlying belief that the game of soccer provides an excellent forum to instill life values in young people that will prepare them to be responsible productive members of society and the community in adulthood. The Foundation will provide an opportunity for young people who would not otherwise participate in the sport of soccer.
The Foundation will operate as a not-for-profit Foundation under the laws of the state of Illinois and shall pursue and maintain a tax exempt status pursuant to Section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended from time to time.

The Sockers Youth Foundation provides assistance for deserving youths, regardless of club affiliation, to play for chicagoland soccer clubs.
The Sockers Youth Foundation sponsors a series of free soccer clinics in the chicagoland area aimed at introducing soccer to the youths of the community.
The Sockers Youth Foundation participates in the US Soccer Foundation’s Passback Program that provides used equipment to communities around the world.
The Sockers Youth Foundation is continually looking for volunteers to take part in or annual fund raisers, assistance in organizing free clinics, liaisons to park districts, and participating in other events.
